Denise Chan

Speech Pathologist

Hi there, my name is Denise. I am a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist with years of experience working with children and families in Sydney, rural and remote areas in Australia.

I am passionate about client-centred care that I emphasise on the collaboration with my clients when delivering evidence-based speech therapy, aiming to bring improvements in children’s communication and learning. I value developing strong therapeutic relationships with my clients in my service which is crucial to achieve positive treatment outcomes. I am keen to support the neurodivergent population, celebrate and support the unique strengths and perspectives of each child.

In my undergraduate studies, I have developed a strong interest in English linguistics, language acquisition and multilingualism. Coming from a multilingual background myself, I am passionate about supporting other multilingual families in Australia, helping them preserve their home languages and cultures, while facilitating their children’s communication development.

I am experienced in offering speech pathology assessment and therapy in various ways, including individual and group therapy, parent and educator’s coaching, in face-to-face and online settings. I mainly work with preschoolers and primary school-aged children. Main clinical areas I focus on include language, speech sounds, early literacy, social skills and fluency.

When I am not at work, I enjoy watching movies and cooking for my family.
